WBSO Deadlines to Consider
The WBSO (Wet Bevordering Speur- en Ontwikkelingswerk) subsidy provides financial benefits for companies that innovate, but applying for this subsidy requires strict planning and knowledge of important WBSO deadlines. Indeed, missing a deadline can lead to financial beliefs for your organization. SOM therefore monitors these deadlines for our clients. When a deadline approaches, we contact those clients to whom the deadline applies and discuss the actions to be taken.
What is the WBSO subsidy?
The WBSO subsidy is a tax benefit that helps companies reduce the cost of innovation and development. To take advantage of this subsidy, it is important to keep in mind specific deadlines throughout the year.
WBSO Calendar 2025: Important WBSO Deadlines for BVs
Below are the key WBSO deadlines for applying for the WBSO subsidy in 2025:

Sept. 30, 2024
This is the deadline to apply for WBSO subsidies for the year 2024. Companies that have not yet applied should make sure to do so before this date.
December 20, 2024
Do you want to apply for WBSO subsidies with an effective date of January 1, 2025? Then submit your application no later than December 20, 2024.
March 31, 2025
This is the deadline for reporting realized hours of research and development (R&D) through Dec. 31, 2024. Any costs and expenses must also be reported. This reporting is mandatory and must be done accurately to maintain your WBSO benefits.
Starting in November 2024, companies can submit WBSO applications for calendar year 2025, with a deadline on Sept. 30, 2025. Please note that even if your application is still pending, you must record R&D hours, costs and expenses starting the first month after submission.
WBSO Deadlines for ZZP'ers
ZZP'ers can also use the WBSO scheme, but the WBSO deadlines differ somewhat from those for BVs:

This is also the last chance for ZZPs to apply for WBSO for the year 2024.
January 1, 2025
ZZPs who want their WBSO application to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, should make sure their application is submitted before that date.
March 31, 2025
If you as a self-employed person have realized less than 500 R&D hours in 2024, this is the deadline to declare it.
ZZPs can submit their WBSO application for 2025 from November 2024 through September 30, 2025. Again, tracking R&D hours is required immediately after submission, regardless of approval status.
