What is the WBSO subsidy briefly explained
Are you working on innovative ideas, using an innovative method or doing R&D? Then it is quite possible that the WBSO (Wet Bevordering Speur- en Ontwikkelingswerk)) can help you financially with this. This can offer a saving on labor costs or a reimbursement of actual costs and expenses. The WBSO subsidy thus supports the development of this innovation or that new product. In case you are an independent entrepreneur, the WBSO subsidy is made available in the form of a fixed deduction from your income tax.
Financial benefit WBSO subsidy
This tax scheme is designed to provide you with a tax benefit in the form of a deduction from payroll taxes. In case you are an independent contractor, the WBSO is made available in the form of a fixed deduction from income tax. For more information on the tax benefits of the WBSO, please refer to our blog: Set off WBSO subsidy, how does it work?
Applying for a WBSO subsidy
An application for the WBSO subsidy is made to the RVO (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland). They assess whether your project is eligible for the WBSO and evaluate this based on a number of criteria.
You must take a "systematically organized" approach to your innovative work, meaning that you organize your work well and keep track of what and who has been required for your project. Hourly records are especially important here.
Are you working on an idea or do you think you could actually spend more time developing new ideas? Then maybe it's a good idea to have a non-committal chat about your project! We are happy to think along with you. With our experience in the field of the WBSO, we can assess whether your project is technically new enough and whether you are eligible for the WBSO.
We can then guide you in choosing the most promising idea, assist you in describing your innovation in the way the RFO would like to see it described, and ensure that the application has the best possible chance of being accepted. We work on a no-cure, no-pay basis: if your application is rejected, our advice and activities will cost you nothing! If you want to read more about the RVO's criteria for assessing your project, check out our blog on which projects are eligible for the WBSO.
